So after working with alpaca some, petting it, running it through my hands, carding it, grouping it, spinning it, I had thought that I could very possibly be allergic to it. My hands got rather swollen on the palms, with a very itchy, irritated feeling to them. But Maya showed me this article and now I think that I’m probably just sensitive, and need to try working with some baby alpaca, like she suggested.
In the mean time, I have been busy trying to spin it anyway. I finished the first batch!

I called it Berrycitrus Marmalade. I debated about including the citrus part in the title, but whenever I think about marmalade, I always think orange marmalade, even though it’s generally citrus-y anyway…I thought, oh, too much yellow/lemon in there, so has to be said! Yes, freakish, I know. Oh well, I yam what I yam!
Here’s another shot:

It may prove to be really overspun, we’ll just have to see! It’s drying right now, but was very curly coming out of the twist-set water.
I also had fun spinning a bit of crazy yarn. Started off spinning a batt that I got from Rachel-Marie, but ended up loving it so much that I started to include bits of batts that I got from Laila. I got kind of crazy, using some samples that she sent along – this yarn has a little bit of everything in it.

I absolutely LOVE it! L-O-V-E, LOVE! I don’t know if I can ever go back to just spinning straight up roving… between spinning my first home-made rolags, and then the lovely batts…. there’s no going back!
Oooooh, and I almost forgot to include: I finished Amy’s yarn, hurrah! I’m *very* pleased with out it came out.

TTFN!

SO pretty- they are some of my favorite bonfire-y colors! Happy spinning! Smooches from the sheeps!
It all looks great! I adore the marmalade and the crazy… but Amy’s take the cake, dude. GORGEOUS! If I were a knitter, I’d hound you about this.
Glad you aren’t full-out allergic. Allergies bite
