I went to a fiber festival a couple of weeks ago. While I was there I purchased some raw alpaca. I finally got around to washing it this week.

I was really worried about felting it! But everything turned out alright. In fact, I got brave & figured, as long as it’s already wet, I might as well dye it up too, and only have it have to dry once.

I’m really pleased with how they came out, all bright and tropical looking.
Also it’s very very very soft! I am going to be doing hand carding tonight! Woot!
More pictures to come soon, it’s nearly dry, and I also dyed up the last of it yesterday evening, but didn’t have a chance to take pictures of that batch yet. Take care, and see you soon!
PS – A big thanks to Aija of sock prØn and Sandy of Homestead Wool and Gift Farm, who both tweeted me through the washing process.
