I went to a fiber festival a couple of weeks ago.  While I was there I purchased some raw alpaca.  I finally got around to washing it this week.
My 1st time washing alpaca
I was really worried about felting it! But everything turned out alright. In fact, I got brave & figured, as long as it’s already wet, I might as well dye it up too, and only have it have to dry once.

I’m really pleased with how they came out, all bright and tropical looking. :) Also it’s very very very soft! I am going to be doing hand carding tonight! Woot!
More pictures to come soon, it’s nearly dry, and I also dyed up the last of it yesterday evening, but didn’t have a chance to take pictures of that batch yet. Take care, and see you soon!

PS – A big thanks to Aija of sock prØn and Sandy of Homestead Wool and Gift Farm, who both tweeted me through the washing process.
